The University Association of Women´s Studies -AUDEM- meets biannually a discussion forum for gender studies in Spain. In this occasion the University of Murcia hosts the 9th International Congress about Women in arts; pioneers in the art, essays and education.

 The women´s associations have contributed to consolidate the gender studies in our country. Thanks to its continuous efforts, the women´s studies in all fields of knowledge have been driven over recent decades. Even so most women are still excluded from history of thought, literary canon and intellectual debate.

 This congress aims to bring together educational staff and researchers from different culture fields through a broad and interdisciplinary perspective to disseminate and promote further women´s studies who have provided intelligence, art, rigour and humanism in the progress of thinking, arts and teaching. The legacy of these women deserves to be well known and valued to give them the voice that belongs to them by right in our society.
